Prairie Livestock Veterinarians (PLV) is seeking a motivated Swine Veterinarian to join our team in Lethbridge, Alberta. This full-time position offers an excellent opportunity for both new graduates and experienced veterinarians who are interested in herd health management, swine production medicine, and food animal practice. Candidates from a variety of veterinary backgrounds, including small animal, cattle, or dairy practice, are encouraged to apply.
As part of a collaborative and supportive team, you will work closely with swine producers to provide comprehensive herd health services, including disease diagnosis, treatment, prevention, and epidemiological support. Responsibilities include conducting herd health assessments, developing herd health plans, performing export assessments and documentation, evaluating animal welfare and biosecurity programs, supporting quality assurance initiatives, analyzing herd health data, and educating clients on best management practices. Opportunities also exist for research collaboration and applied research projects.

Candidates must hold a DVM (or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school and be a Registered Veterinarian in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan, or eligible for registration in Alberta and/or Saskatchewan. Strong communication, teamwork, organization, and time-management skills are essential, along with a commitment to veterinary ethics, animal welfare, food animal production, safety, and confidentiality. Experience working in livestock production environments is an asset.
