Applications are invited from qualified individuals for a 3-year term, full time Lecturer position in Elective Surgery in the Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan.
Working closely with a second, experienced veterinarian, approximately 50% of the appointment will be devoted to coordinating and supervising elective surgical procedures for Year 4 undergraduate veterinary students. An additional 25% of the appointment will involve the development and supervision of instructional exercises and laboratories in Years 1 to 3 of the curriculum, with a focus on preparing students for live-animal surgical experiences. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be dedicated to participation in the Major Surgery service of the Veterinary Medical Centre (VMC), including shared responsibility after-hours on-call service. Applicants must hold a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (or equivalent) and be eligible for a General License to practice veterinary medicine in Saskatchewan. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and mentoring veterinary students for success in clinical practice, particularly in primary and elective surgery.

A 3-year term Lecturer position is available with the Large Animal Internal Medicine service in the Department of Large Animal Clinical Sciences at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.
This position entails a 75% commitment to the LAIM service of the VMC while providing supervision and instruction to undergraduate students as well as interns and residents. The successful candidate will also contribute to the department’s teaching responsibilities, including lectures, laboratories, and demonstrations, as well as graduate courses. The remaining 25% of the appointment will be available for other academic pursuits, administrative responsibilities, and related activities.
Applicants must hold a DVM degree or equivalent, have completed an approved mixed residency in LAIM, and either be certified, i.e., a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine or be eligible to sit the certifying exams of the ACVIM at the time of appointment. Completion of an advanced degree in a related field is desirable. They must also be eligible to work in Canada and possess an appropriate SVMA license by the start of the appointment. A clinical interest and experience in production animals and horses is essential. Teaching experience will be considered an asset.
Salary band for the 2026-2027 academic year is $95,187-$139,203 and is negotiable based on qualifications and experience.
