Survey of Compliance with HWAC Codes of Practice

The Horse Welfare Alliance of Canada (HWAC), working with equine sector participants, has developed a survey to gauge the level of awareness and compliance to Canada’s standard of equine care, the Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Equines.

Survey results will provide insight into how aware the industry is of the Code and the level of compliance to the standards and requirements set forth within them. Results will identify opportunities for educational programming, resources and the foundation for an equine care assessment tool.

The survey,, is targeted at all aspects of the equine industry including veterinarians and veterinary technicians. The survey was launched mid March, as of today we have 680 responses. We recognize and appreciate the crucial role veterinarians and technicians have in protecting the health and welfare of equine and would like to invite your members to participate in the survey.
